Worker’s Compensation

We offer work specific training to help get injured employees back to work quickly and safely. These work-specific protocols are established with your job requirements in mind (ie, lifting, standing, walking, bending, etc) to develop a personalized rehab program. The focus of treatment is on restoring range of motion and strength to the affected joints in order to progress towards safely performing all work tasks.

Prior to being discharged, we perform job specific testing while monitoring vital signs to ensure you are able to safely return to work in a full capacity.

Worker Rehabilitation (Work Hardening & Conditioning)

Work Hardening & Conditioning programs are designed for those clients who may have completed traditional or worker’s compensation physical therapy but are not yet able to sustain the performance of their job requirements for the duration of a typical work day.

Industrial athletes often perform repetitive lifting, pulling, carrying, bending or long periods of standing and walking. Throughout this program we will focus on endurance training for general fitness as well as incorporating job specific task circuit training for a safe return to work in a full time and full duty capacity. We work to safely progress clients for their full return to work by starting with 3-4 hours of job specific circuit training and increasing that time to 5-6 hours per day. Clients attend daily sessions over a 2-4 week period mirroring a return to work progression. The goal is to restore the individual’s physical capabilities and capacity to meet the demands of full-time employment and in turn prevent the reoccurrence of injury.

Pre and Post Offer Employment Testing

Pre-hire screening and/or post offer testing will help to ensure that your employees are physically able to handle the demands of the workplace. This testing is performed in one appointment and is designed to assist employers in building and maintaining a workforce that is safe and productive while minimizing the likelihood of workplace associated injuries. This preventative measure ensures that your employees are medically cleared to perform their specific job tasks, saving you time and money.

Clients participating in pre-employment testing will come in prior to having an offer extended. Post-offer employment testing is for employees who have already been offered a position. These tests generally take about 30 minutes and have been developed through an independently researched and peer-reviewed process.

In some cases, employers will provide established testing protocols for us to follow. If this is your first time utilizing pre and post offer testing, our institute is able to assist you in developing testing protocols by performing a site visit. During this visit we will guide you in determining the job tasks to be tested in accordance with national occupational standards

Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE)

After completing physical therapy and/ or work rehabilitation, some industrial athletes are still unable to return to work due to remaining functional deficits and pain. A case manager, attorney, employer, or physician will often order an FCE to determine what work tasks a client can and cannot safely perform.

The intention may be to return to the same job, determine what reasonable modifications can be made to allow the client to return to the same position, identify a different job the client can perform safely, or this evaluation may be used by an attorney as part of a disability claim.

Our clinic utilizes propietary software which provides a system of scoring to document and track individual outcomes. The software enables clinicians to objectively rate materials handling, movements, and positions of the client as he/she performs task related to a specific job or occupation.

Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE) take approximately 4 hours to complete and tests repetitive work tasks while monitoring vital signs. Testing results are provided within 24-48 hours following client completion. *Clients are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes and appropriate shoes that would be appropriate to their work environment.
