Insurance Coverage for Evaluations/Treatment

Rehabilitation services are recognized as necessary medical procedures and are therefore covered by most insurance companies. Our insurance department will obtain this information for you when you call for your appointment. In South Carolina state law allows for services for PT to be provided by certified PT without physician referral. Some insurance will cover this, and some will not. This can be clarified when you call. Our Physical Therapy services are billed under Compass Rehabilitation.

Your benefits will be explained to you by your second visit. We also offer cash based payment option for patients that prefer to pay out of pocket instead of utilizing their insurance benefits. Please contact us for self‐pay rates.

Direct Access—Note that South Carolina is a direct access state meaning that you can go to see your physical therapist anytime you want without a prescription for 30 days. Your insurance carrier may support this (does not require a prescription) but some insurances require this for payment. If in doubt please call us and we will work with you to ascertain whether you need a prescription. We do, however, send a note to your physician because we believe that your treatment should be team driven.
